This morning, the Ridge Road Fire District gathered for our annual remembrance ceremony to honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to remember the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of the first responders who answered the call that day, 25 years ago.

Twenty-five years later, their service and sacrifice remain forever etched in our hearts. We remember the 2,977 innocent lives lost, the firefighters, police officers, EMS providers, and all those who made the ultimate sacrifice—and the countless others whose lives were forever changed.

Twenty-five years later, we still remember the innocent lives lost on September 11, 2001.

We also remember the thousands of first responders who ran toward the danger when everyone else was running away, those same first responders affected by exposure to harmful environmental contaminants and psychological trauma immediately after, and the families forever affected by the aftermath.
