Stoneridge Fire Station 50th Anniversary

On Jan 23, 1971, the Ridge Road Fire District Stoneridge Drive fire station went into service, with Engine 53 (later to become 253) staffed 24/7 with one career firefighter.

The planning of this station began in 1968 as a result of the recent residential and school construction in the area, as well as the 390 interchange being built.

Today, Engine Company 253 is staffed with one Lieutenant and two or three firefighters. It responded to over 1200 incidents in 2020.

Thanks to Firefighter O'Kelly for putting together the write up!

My how time passes. I was surprised it is that old. Eddie and I would go and sit with Bert Ottman when he was working and sometimes Fred Stark would be there too. Good old days. Jackie

Yup I’m old enough to remember when it was constructed and sat there with a reserve engine from station 1 on multiple alarm fires and training

Open cabs - last two purchased in 1972 - first non-open cab was purchased in 1975, but, they had a closed cab ALF, I I believe it was a’59, before the open cabs of the 60’s

As a neighbor since 1986 I really appreciate you being here. Thank you so much for all you do.

Is that an open cab LaFrance? Great in California or Florida, not so great in a Rochester winter

A lot of runs out of that station - made a difference in the lives of a lot of residents in the quadrant - in the early days, there were a group of dedicated volunteers that were right behind you - a couple of good grabs and a couple of good hits were made before the HQ's guys pulled up - great neighborhood - a few "legends" cut their teeth there"

Ridge Road Fire District

Our entire NY National Guard family grieves the loss of three Soldiers this week from our Rochester flight facility.

Killed in the January 20 crash of a UH-60 Black Hawk were Chief Warrant Officer 5 Steven Skoda, Chief Warrant Officer 4 Christian Koch and Chief Warrant Officer 2 Daniel Prial. These Soldiers were a part of our National Guard family and we mourn their loss, alongside their family members and loved ones.

The New York National Guard will be there for these family members as they navigate these trying times. Our chaplains and casualty assistance officers will be with them whenever needed.

Our service members wish to extend their heartfelt thanks to the members of law enforcement, first responders, and the community at large for their support and sympathy during this trying time.
